World Book Day 2022
World book day is around the corner on Thursday 3rd of March, we are so excited to celebrate and look forward to this day each year!
We invite all Pixies big or small to dress up as their favourite book character, we will enjoy reading the books children share and also look at lots of our favourites.
World Book day Is a fun filled day where our imaginations can take us anywhere.
We look forward to celebrating with all the children again this year.
What is Literacy in the early years?
The term “literacy” is used by some to simply describe reading and writing, but in fact literacy covers a much wider range of learning. Literacy in the early years includes talking about books, print in the environment, early mark making and writing, Imaginative play by creating our own tales, as well as sharing books and reading. World Book day is a fantastic opportunity for children to explore and develop understanding and skill within these wonderful developmental mile stones.
Happy World Book Day 03/03/2022📚📚
Today the children have had a lovely world book day!
We started by showing off our amazing costumes and the book we had decided to bring in.
We then got ourselves ready and went for a walk to the Library! There, we were greeted by the Librarians and went into the children’s section. We sat down and went exploring for books…we even found one that had the same title name as one of our Pixie friends!
As we were leaving, one of the Librarians invited us to each take a book home to read with our grown ups!
During the afternoon we have been talking about why we chose the book we brought in and our other favourite books. We have also read some of our special books during circle time.
What a lovely day celebrating books📚⭐️
